8/2-4/2014 Parkdale, Oregon- Erwin & Corina's Wedding

Occasionally I think, if I did not live in Bend, Oregon were would I choose to live.   Parkdale, Oregon generally is on the short list.  It reminds me of the West Valley area of Yakima where I spent my teenage years.  Lots of good memories.  I got the truck and trailer ready to go Friday night after work.  It reduces the stress associated with packing and travel.  Bobbe was up early and our adventure started earlier than planned on Saturday morning.  It was a nice drive to Parkdale from Bend.  The smoke from fires in the Cascades was behind us for the most part as we crossed the mountains and headed north.  While researching campsites on line, the usfs campgrounds were not designed for a rig 59 feet long.  Corina suggested Hood River Parks Department campground.  Toll Bridge campground was only 3 miles from the wedding site.  As we drove into campground site the sign board said only 3 sites were still available.   As we drove around on site was just being occupied and another was too small the third was just right!

After setting up we explored the area and found the site for the wedding.  It was just down the road from a nursery I had purchased tree seedlings from during my forestry days.  Bobbe and I also used this time to search out a few geocaches in the area.   It was quite hot and it was hard to stay outside the ac in the car long.  Also this appeared to be wedding season in Parkdale.  There was one wedding at the campground and another in a park next to the local museum.

Dinner Saturday was our standby, grilled chicken on the little BQ.

For some reason I know I would like the owner of this place.
